POWER WHEELCHAIR MOBILITY CARRIER RACK RAMP (T-NS-SCC001-WHEELCHAIRCARRIER) Review

POWER WHEELCHAIR MOBILITY CARRIER RACK RAMP (T-NS-SCC001-WHEELCHAIRCARRIER)
Average Reviews:

This is a good hitch hauler at a great price. Assembly was mostly easy, however there were a couple of holes that didn't quite line up properly, nothing a little grinding with the dremmel wasn't able to fix. While it is a little annoying to have to fix small manufacturing errors like that, for the price of this unit, vs the prices of every other one I'd been able to find I'm still very happy with it.
As far as function goes, my parents have used it several times and are very pleased with it. My mothers powerchair loads easily and the rack has plenty of tie down points available. It even includes pre-drilled holes for mounting your license plate to since the chair will likely obscure it.

Rightline Gear 100B90 PackRight Cargo Saddlebag

We took a family vacation in our SUV with 7 passengers and did not have any room to spare for luggage. I started reading reviews all over the internet for cargo carriers. I came across this backpack carrier and was alittle hesitant. All the overhead reviews that I read, the customers were concerned over 2 main points. First was the effect they would have on their gas mileage and second water entering their carriers during rain storms. Well we drove from Texas to New York, then to Florida and back to Texas, over 4300 miles and plenty of rain in between. We were able to load ALL of our luggage in to this carrier, got great gas mileage and most of all it never got a drop of water in the carrier at all. Another great ppoint is that with the overhead carriers, it is really hard to access you stuff during a trip, with this carrier it was a snap. I was totally 100% satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone that travels.

Hollywood Racks HR1200 Sport Rider SE 3-Bike Platform Style Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Receiver) Review

Hollywood Racks HR1200 Sport Rider SE 3-Bike Platform Style Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Receiver)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am very pleased with this rack. It was easy to assemble and since it works mainly by pulling pins (for adjustments), pretty much anyone can use it. Figure about five minutes for on/off. The stabilizer hitch pin prevents any swaying and the entire rack (and bikes) simply stay put. Nobody likes to see wobbling in their rear view mirror! The construction seems very solid and my only minor gripe is that the cables holding the pins could be a thicker. Also, it is a bit tedious moving all the pins around for each bike bracket when setting up/tearing down. I think they could have combined certain pins in a more efficant manner. The piece is somewhat bulky, so expect to have help if you are not comfortable lifting heavy objects. You are most likely going to leave this rack in place as I have found unplugging/plugging from hitch, moving the pins and straps around gets tiring after a few on/offs.

Designed to fold flat against the back of a vehicle when not in use, this heavy-duty platform-style rack mounts on a 2-inch hitch and holds three bicycles. The rack uses padded universal top clamps and adjustable wheel holders. Bikes need simply to be dropped into the wheel holders and clamps slid down onto the frames. Velcro wheel straps add security. To prevent rack sway, the hitch system is "no-wobble/no-tools" and includes a locking pin and 9-foot security cable. The rack carries a limited warranty against defects.

Allen Basic 2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack Review

Allen Basic 2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack
Average Reviews:

The rack comes fully assembled and the instructions for mounting it are reasonably clear and simple and the warnings to prevent improper mounting are clear. I only mount one bike on it and it does the job well. I presume it would work for two bikes but I have had no reason to carry two bikes. The Super Saver and free shipping made it a real bargain. The same rack in the sporting goods stores was $10-20 more expensive; Amazon wins on price and quick delivery (3 days).

Designed to fit most sedans, hatchbacks, minivans and SUV's, the Allen 102A Basic 2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack offers an easy-to-use and versatile option for transporting bicycles while on the road. Its 12-inch long carry arms can accommodate up to two bicycles, and can be released with a single pop-up pin when not in use for easier storage. The rack's streamlined, single-configuration design eases installation and minimizes assembly. The rack also incorporates Allen's own "No-wobble" bolt, which eliminates movement of the rack inside of the hitch and secures the bicycle firmly in place. It is finished with a rugged UV-resistant polyester powder coating, ensuring both durability and a sleek, attractive look.
Manufacturer's Warranty Limited lifetime warranty
About Allen Bike Racks In 1967, after a few years of working on the aerospace technology for the Apollo missions, Dick Allen was out of a job. Government cutbacks led Allen, a Harvard-trained physicist, to transform his garage hobby into a new industry. A cycling enthusiast, inventor, and family man, Allen had a personal need for a bike-carrying device. On weekends, he would take his sons and wife to Cape Cod or the White Mountains of New Hampshire. What proved difficult time and again was the transport of his family's bicycles. Rather than fight through inconvenience with twine and a dinged car, Allen sought an answer for himself as well as a market in which he foresaw major growth possibilities.
Always a pathfinder, Allen took to work in his Lincoln, Massachusetts garage in search of a more efficient way to transport bikes. Drafting designs during the day and constructing them throughout the night, he put together a model made of electrical conduit, metal strapping, and fire hose casings (for padding). At first, the Allens' tested the prototype on weekend excursions. Finding the first trunk-mounted rack to be a success, Dick started Allen Bike Racks. Dealer acceptance came quickly, and by 1971 Allen Bike Racks were sold nationally through a number of major bicycle distributors. Today, the company owns over three dozen patents and offers a versatile product line of bike racks while Dick's son Alex now owns and operates the business. What started out as a small garage run operation now operates three warehouses nationally, two factories abroad, and has products sold in more than a dozen countries around the world.

I got this bracket to hold my second spare on a Body Armor Roof Rack on my Jeep. Since this rack has thicker bars on the basket I can not use the brackets coming with the part so I have a hard time to install it. With the original brackets it would bemuch easier but that's my rack, not a general thing. My roof rack is in 8 feet height which makes it harder but it is doing its job very well. I'm still using additional straps, better safe than sorry.
I would recommend it to a friend.

Lund has always signified high quality. This extender is no exception. Can now safely carry 20/40 ft ladder with 6.5 ft. truck bed. Will haul scrap metal shed all folded up today. Will add 3/16 thick rubber pads (Ace Hardeware) to top of cross bar to cushion. So many adjustment positions and tie down points, this can be used with any SUV or pickup. Powdercoat finish should last decades. Pay a little more, you won't regret it. They even provided hitch adapter for smaller receivers.

Well it worked well. I cranked it down really tight but you have to play with the straps to make sure you don't get an annoying vibration whistle. The one thing they really need is something to put between the straps and the car. (It was a little rough on the paint job) When I was buying it I thought it was going to have gutter clamps or something. The straps run right though the car. Not a real problem but I wouldn't want to use this every weekend. It would really wear out the weather striping of the car doors.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Roof Rack Cross Rails Review

The product came as promised. I had a question about the product pre-purchase to Mopar that was answered promptly. I had a question post-purchase and have never seen a response. The product was easy to install, but the rails slide and my question was if there was a way to tighten them because we attached a snow board rack and want it secure. Never heard a word once I purchased. So I'd say after-the-sale service from Mopar was non-existent.

QUICK and easy to remove by releasing the two top straps. Once the straps are adjusted to your car it is easy and QUICK to place back on your car. Need to only adjust the two top straps. Would have liked it to fold up, but then again I would have adjust the arms each time. Find it a little awkward(positioning self)to pull straps to tighten.
A little hard to pull the red buttons out to adjust arms, but once it is done you never have to do it again unless you change vehicles.

I did have an issue with some missing parts on one of the units but acouple of email with Thule got that resolved and I quickly got replacement parts. these raks are a bit expensive but overall they may taking the boats much easier.

Bell CarGo Rear Rack Review

Bell CarGo Rear Rack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The rack is not as pictured. I bought it because my bike did not have the brackets to screw a rack to the frame. Although the picture shows clamps for attaching both the top and the bottom of the rack to the bike frame, the rack only has clamps for the top of the rack. I had to fashion my own clamps out of insulated p-clamps (in the electrical department at the hardware store). Also the rack is screwed together rather than welded which makes it less sturdy than most racks. Get a welded rack at Performance bikes for about the same price ($15 when they are on sale).

WeatherTech 60001 RackSack Cargo Carrier Review

WeatherTech 60001 RackSack Cargo Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like WeatherTech products, so when I saw this one, I decided to buy it, and stop searching all the other choices. I like the WeatherTech Company, and they have a REP for perfect products!
After a trip from Ohio to South Florida and back, I felt I knew enough about it to review it and give some general info. So this is based on ONE long trip in the rain... (I am a retired truck driver, so have some knowledge in this area)
First, it's well made, it has it's own storage bag that yes, it really will fit back into!
Got the usual great Amazon service! Fast delivery, no damage, and lowest price I could find!
Soft or Hard - which to choose?
Here's my thinking on the subject: Hard is better, but much more expensive, and takes much more room to store when not in use. Since this is not an item I will use more than 2-3 times per year, cost and storage are big factors to me. If I were to use it more often, then a hard Carrier would do the job much better.OK - Soft, now why this one?
As I said at the top, I like the Company, and knew the product would be of great quality. I was right, heavy material, double seams everywhere, strong zipper, great attachment system!
A few things I learned during the study and search for this; if your roof rack has cross rails - you need to measure the space between them, or make sure they can be removed - if not, you will have to go to a hard Carrier! Because this is some 30+ inches long, you want this to sit on the roof itself, NOT on any cross-rails! On my 06 Tucson, there is only 21' between the rails, and it was a chore to remove them (on my Tucson, the cross-rails are meant to not be moved, and they had some extra parts built up around the rails that had to be removed first). So scope all this out first regardless of which soft Carrier you buy!
I do not believe that any brand of soft Carrier would be truly water-proof, so get past that, and plan for some dampness - that was my thinking! The racksack uses a "rubber-backed" type material (PVC, etc), but water *could* come in through the seams, or around the zipper. So, I simply used garbage bags around what we were worried about.
The straps can be used on the front and back, or on the sides - since I had removed my cross rails, I could only attach on the sides. YES, it's a pain to load - I am 6' tall - but not tall enough - so a ladder, or stand on the door edge in the open door, or, load on the ground and heave it onto the roof---not an easy way to do it. And NO, it must be unloaded at night for those of you on long trips as there is no way to lock it, another reason for a[...] hard shell lockable Carrier - But, I knew this when I bought it, just bringing up "gotcha's" that others may not have thought of.
Anyhow, the straps work very well! The buckles hold well, and I felt no need for any extra straps (hindsight proved me correct as well) - remember, loose strap ends will do damage if they flap going down the road! The racksack uses this neat velcro way of rolling the end, and self-tying the ends so they do not flap. If not, or if it does not work for you, simply tuck the ends under the bag - just make sure they do not flap.
Gas mileage will go down when at speed. If loaded properly, there is not much extra noise, but at freeway speeds, a drop in MPG is a real possibility - regardless of which bag/Carrier you get.
On my small SUV (Tucson) driving at 65-70 on the cruise control I normally get 22-23MPG, the best I did with the bag was 19.8MPG - so in my case, the drop was rather considerable! This is more a issue of the vehical than the type of bag used. On my car, I would get roughly the same drop regardless of which Carrier bought (the exception might be some of the streamlined hard Carriers).
To sum it up, I like the product, it worked well for me, and the luxury of being able to bring items on the car trip that I could not have taken without the bag was a good trade-off for the loading hassles and the lower MPG - so, this is both a review and recomendation of the 'Racksack' - and a how-to in general for roof top carriers.
If you'd like more info on the Racksack, Google the Company name and go to their website - lots of images and info on the product. Very good product for the price - was roughly 50% cheaper at Amazon too!
I hope this helps!

The Yakima SKS accessory lock housing does one thing and does it very well......it secures your accessories to your rack so that people cannot walk off with them. This is a very inexpensive way to secure your expensive rack hardware.
If ever there was a "must have", this is it. The locks themselves are necessary for peace of mind, and work easily. Although I think these should be included by Yakima when you buy an expensive bike or kayak rack, but that is another issue altogether.

Average Reviews:

I also found the instructions and pictures very misleading. I hope the following will help make the job easier. It took about 45 minutes to complete the installation. I do like the product
Saturn VUE 2002 & Up Without Roof Rails
*** USE THE TOOL PROVIDED WITH THE KIT
Check all parts.
Remove the four (4) screws from both roof rails at positions 3, and either 4 or 5 or 6 using a star bit screw driver. Save the screws in case you wish to remove the cross bars at a later date. I removed the four screws to ensure that I would not have a problem in the middle of the installation.
Lift about 3" of the vinyl piece at each end of the crossbar to provide access to the holes.
Attach the larger end pieces to the cross bar using the black screw, flat washer and self locking nut***. The self locking (small) part of the nut should be away from the screw. Tighten but not too much. About ¼" of the screw should extend beyond the nut.
Carefully screw the 2 longer standoffs into the holes in position 3. You will have to use a socket. Do not over tighten.
Place the crossbars over the two standoffs and using the two shorter screws with a lock washer secure the end pieces to the standoffs***. If you raise the end piece about a ¼" from the roof rail, it will be easier to insert the screw. Again do not over tighten.
Insert the smaller end cap into the end piece. Secure the end cap using a chrome set screw***.
Secure the vinyl into both ends.
Carefully screw 2 shorter standoffs into the holes in position 4, 5 or 6. You will have to use a socket. Do not over tighten.
Place the crossbars over the two standoffs and using two longer screws with a lock washer and 2 or 3 flat washers secure the end pieces to the standoffs***. If you raise the end piece about a ¼" from the roof rail, it will be easier to insert the screw. The screws should be tight. If not, add additional flat washers. Again do not over tighten.
Insert the smaller end cap into the end piece. Secure the end cap using a chrome set screw***.
Secure the vinyl into both ends
Check that the crossbars are tight.
You may hear a slight air sound that was not apparent before.

SportRack - A34500 - Alternative Bike Adaptor
Average Reviews:

I like this product for the most part. It does what it claims. It clamps easily to your bike and allows you to transport it on a bike car carrier somewhat horizontal. My bike carrier clamps to the product firmly but the adaptor fits loosely on the bike, ( i wish it would fit the bike tightly but it doesn't. I have a way to modify it but I just don't have the time). You also need to securely attach bike with straps to carrier otherwise bike may bounce. On my setup, the adaptor fits around the bottom of the seat and handle bars. It states in the instructions to make sure your seat and handlebars are secure or they will detach from the bike. THEY ARE ACCURATE. Just install per instructions and you shall arrive at your destination with your bike. I purchased one from Sports Chalet and one from Amazon.com. Amazon was cheaper. Have fun!
