(More customer reviews)I got this extension mainly b/c without the extension the rack looks too small for my jeep. I have the ability to adjust my crossbars with my Thule Bars on the rain gutter. I widened it so it was 45" apart from each other then put the put the rack on. All connected, it's really not that heavy. i put it on top myself with a stool. I'd recommend this to anyone that has the roof space. At a reasonable price from amazon.com, i have a rack that is significantly cheaper than those from competing companies.
I choose to not use the plastic covers as well. I feel they add wind resistance and it looks corner with the valley brand on it. if it was all black than maybe.
