(More customer reviews)Used on a 2005 Tahoe. I did purchase the side rails and used criss-crossing bungee cords for stability. I had it well loaded with luggage and could not tell it was there when I was driving on my 13 hour trip. The only downside to this type of cargo carrier is that it is not waterproof. We went thru a rain shower and the luggage on the bottom was a bit damp. I had prepared for this by NOT putting any electronics inside the luggage. The fold-away feature is helpful if I need to drive it back home unloaded. On my Tahoe, the unit installed far enough out that I still had the ability to access my rear door!
