This hitch worked out really well. The kit had all the parts I needed to install it, except some silicone caulk ($3) to seal the drain holes in my spare tire well, and the tools (obviously). I drive an Infiniti G35 Sedan, which has gobs of acceleration power, stopping power, and everything needed to tow a trailer. The only thing the car doesn't have is a lot of space, so adding this hitch made my car so much more useful. The hitch is strong, and I towed a 5'x8' trailer from U-Haul weighing 2000 lbs without a problem. By the way, there is a difference between total weight, which is what your vehicle can pull and stop, and tongue weight, which is the straight down limit that your vehicle can carry on the hitch ball itself. My towing limit is 2000 lbs total weight, but my tongue limit is 200 lbs.
I am also a cyclist, and got tired of putting a strap on rack on my trunk. It would scratch my rear deck and bumper. With this hitch I can now use a hitch bike rack. I wish I had done this a long time ago. If you are a cyclist, and are considering a roof rack, consider the cost of a roof rack vs this solution, and also the fact that the ugly roof rack has to be on your car all the time, vs this which is unobtrusively hidden under the car, except when you insert the rack. Plus, with the roof rack, you have to remove the bike front wheel, and you can't tow a trailer with a roof rack.
I installed the hitch and wiring myself, but U-Haul will install the hitch at one of their larger facilities for about $90. There are two types of light kits. One which draws power directly from your lights (not recommended), and one which draws power directly from the battery (recommended). It is about twice the money ($36 vs $18), but worth it. I recommend not loading the already sensitive lighting systems on todays cars with the cheaper kit if you plan to actually tow a trailer with this hitch. Installation of the wiring kit is an additional cost also if you have U-Haul do it. The kit can be purchased here on amazon by searching for "Hopkins 46255 wiring kit". That kit is the one I'm recommending, and universal for any vehicle. Otherwise, do a search for "Hopkins wiring kit" and your vehicle brand, and that should give you plenty of options here on Amazon.I highly recommend this product to anyone.
