(More customer reviews)I tried a friend's very similar to this. Also bought a different type that uses the rubber straps for securing. I prefer these plates that screw down. Also, my friend's bolts are shorter, so with bikes with fat bars, you had to use an adapter. Still have to use adapter for one 24" bike, but the 26" bike has enough clearance between bars to slide the bottom plate through. Just wish it would swing down for easier access to liftgate.

Highland 2508500 Black Universal Telescoping Bar Carrier Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this product for my 2009 Scion XB. I wanted to use the roof rack to hold a cargo carrier bag full of stuff to take to the beach. I was skeptical that this roof rack would work since the Scion XB does not have a rain gutter. Other roof racks for the Scion were several hundred dollars and this roof rack was a fraction of the cost. To install the roof rack on the Scion XB, I had to pull down the rubber seal between the door and headliner. I was able to place the hook on the metal between headliner seal. It was simple to do and the hook fit nicely. I was afraid that the installation might damage the door seal, but the door seal snapped back in place after removing the roof rack. I was able to tighten the roof rack bars down so there was no movement at all. I thought I would have to use my ratchet tie-downs but they were not necessary. The cargo bag that I used had about 50 to 60 lbs of stuff tied to the roof rack. I had no problems traveling about 350 miles at 70+ mph. If you plan on using this roof rack to carry a cargo bag, I suggest that use some Duct tape and make sure that any loose straps of the bag are tied down. You should also take a narrow strip of Duct tape and tape down the rubber feet of the roof fact. This will ensure that the rubber feet do not fall off when you are putting the roof rack on your car on a windy day. This roof rack is a great value! The best thing about the roof rack is that it can work on my 2007 Toyota Camry as well!

The installation instructions were very basic but I suppose they were adequate because it only took about 15 minutes for a one-person installation. There was no drilling and no permanent mounting. In fact, now that it's fastened to my roof rack, it can be removed in a few seconds by removing the crossbars. It is on a 2007 Ford Escape with factory roof rack and crossbars. All required hardware was included and no tools were necessary. My only concern is the connection between the two halves of the basket. I wish it was a little stronger because I fear that if I put a heavy load in the center it may bend. But I think it would take a load heavier than the 200lb maximum they state.

Kolpin Convertible Rear Drop Rack Review

(More customer reviews)I've used this rack about twice a week for six months now. Works perfectly with the hitch I had mounted on my Civic. I'm in and out of my trunk often for work, and this rack allows for plenty of clearance. Before I bought this on Amazon, I checked out the really expensive brands in the bike stores, and this Hollywood rack seems just as well made for less than half the cost.
As a side note, I bought a small steel combination lock at Target that I use in place of my hitch pin - could be used with any rack. Certainly not a guarantee the rack won't disappear, but it's a little extra security for a few bucks so thought I'd mention it.

Thule 166 Roof Rack Fit Kit Review

(More customer reviews)Great product. Thule is not cheap but you will have a product that will last for years and the racks are more solid than anything else I have used. I could literally pull the car over on its side with the roof rack. I have used my current rack for well over ten years and just replaced the bars and will expect another ten. To transfer it to another car only requires buying the foot package and presto, it is on another car. And the kayak rack I just purchased is perfect also.
