The installation instructions were very basic but I suppose they were adequate because it only took about 15 minutes for a one-person installation. There was no drilling and no permanent mounting. In fact, now that it's fastened to my roof rack, it can be removed in a few seconds by removing the crossbars. It is on a 2007 Ford Escape with factory roof rack and crossbars. All required hardware was included and no tools were necessary. My only concern is the connection between the two halves of the basket. I wish it was a little stronger because I fear that if I put a heavy load in the center it may bend. But I think it would take a load heavier than the 200lb maximum they state.
