Mont Blanc Powder Top 6-Ski/Snowboard Roof Mount Rack Review

Mont Blanc Powder Top 6-Ski/Snowboard Roof Mount Rack

I bought this ski rack for my 2007 FJ Cruiser, specifically because it was priced right at the time I found it($85) and I found out that the manufacturer of this ski rack is the same manufacturer of the FJ Cruiser OEM roof rack. I like Thule and Yakima's racks, but I could not find a similar product new in box for the same price.
Since the FJ's roofrack crossbars are wider than most roof rack crossbars, I bought these based on the photos of the universal mounts that I saw, which looked like they would fit the wider crossbars and they did.
The instructions that were included showed old mounting hardware, but the installation is fairly straightforward. I've used the rack so far on two trips into the Colorado Rockies , holding 2 pairs of skis with no problems at all. I experienced some slight whistling noises at speeds over 65mph, but some minor adjustments to the skis appeared to fix it.
And the end of the day, the locking clips were a little difficult to open, but that may have been due to cold weather. I'll leave them unclipped for the day. A little WD-40 may fix that. A very minor issue. Returning home, the clips worked fine.
The only minor complaint is that the rack limits my clearance. I barely fit in my garage (without skis) and my best clearance is estimated at 7'2", although I haven't measured to confirm. Keep that in mind if you're driving a taller SUV or truck
Two keys came included with the racks and both racks can be locked.
Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend it.

Carry any type of snowboard or skis--with or without ski bags--with the Swagman Powder Top 6 ski and snowboard rack. The Top 6 holds a half dozen pairs of skis or three snowboards, so you can easily head to the mountain with a group of friends piled into the car. Users who currently own base racks from Thule, Yakima, or OEM will dig the Top 6's universal mounts, which work with all three brands. And once you arrive at the mountain, the rack's oversized release lever makes opening a snap, even with a thick pair of gloves on your hands. As a final bonus, the rack includes a durable locking system that protects your gear should you leave the car unattended. So hit the slopes in style with the Swagman Top 6 ski/snowboard rack.

Thule Snowcat w/Locks Review

This product was perfect for my application, I did not have cross bars on my 2003 Mercades ML350 roof rack. The 5401 Snowcat did not require them, it saved me $300.00 from my Dealer. I have never installed anything like this before and it only took 15 minutes.
