Thule Rapid Crossroad Review

Thule Rapid Crossroad
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The seller was great to order from- they called to confirm that I had ordered the correct cross bar size for my vehicle. The package was delivered a few days later, and is exactly what I requested. My only complaint regarding the cross bars is the wind noise that is created that can be heard when my sun roof is open (this is not anything that the seller is responsible for). Otherwise, I am very happy with my purchase. Keep up the good work guys!

Yakima SkyBox 21 Rooftop Cargo Box Review

Yakima SkyBox 21 Rooftop Cargo Box
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The box works great for us. It is easy to install (even on a SUV) because it is leight weight, and once you have installed your crossbars at the right distance it takes less than one minute to fasten. No wind noices on the highway, no shaking or wobbeling, and we only lost 1 mile per gallon on gas. It is very spacious, and even large suitcases and a stroller and bassinet easily fit in there. I would definitely recommend this box.

Family camping trips can be a little cramped, as even the smallest tents, sleeping bags, and backpacks take up a ton of space in the car--and that doesn't account for the coolers, camping chairs, canopies, and family dog. Enter the Yakima SkyBox 21 rooftop cargo box, which stores a ton of your gear in a single, out-of-the-way location. Designed to fit crossbar spreads as short as 24 inches, the SkyBox 21 includes quick-installation mounting hardware that accommodates round, square, and most factory crossbars. More importantly, the SkyBox 21 offers 21 cubic feet of storage space, so you don't have to cram everything in the trunk or back seat.
Thanks to the drag-minimizing aerodynamic shape, the cargo box won't dramatically boost your gas consumption on long road trips. Other details include a dual opening system that unlatches on both sides for maximum convenience; an extra-stiff lid that vibrates less than other cargo boxes and is easier to open and shut with one hand; an integrated track system for such accessories as a cargo net or base pad; a new lid shape that's easier to grip; an improved security latch that keeps your stuff safe; and a black matte anti-scratch finish. Also equipped with SKS locks, the SkyBox 21 measures 92 by 18 by 36 inches (W x H x D).

Rola 59109 Adventure System with Swing Away Review

Rola 59109 Adventure System with Swing Away
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This particular item is fantastic! Functionality is awesome! The box itself is a little hard to handle by a single person, but can easily be handled by two. For security, go ahead and order the locking hitch pin, for stability reasons, order the hitch tightener, and for legality reasons, go ahead and order the license plate relocation kit with light. Unfortunately, I was awaiting the item for an upcoming trip, and when it arrived, the hardware and swingaway was not part of the shipment. The customer service that I received following that initial call was atrocious, and each process and escalation procedure that was, or wasn't followed needs to be looked at and corrected accordingly. I am in the customer service industry, and was extremely disappointed, not only in the ways that my issue was handled, but the number of times that I was lied to by representitives of the company. If one more persons reads me a script of how they are the supervisor on duty, and that a manager is not available, I'm going to scream, and insist yet AGAIN to speak to someone in the US. Overall a very sad, disappointing customer service experience, and I will make sure that hundreds and potentially thousands of people hear about it.

Thule 665C Transporter Combination Hitch Mount 2011 Review

Thule 665C Transporter Combination Hitch Mount 2011
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This did what I need it to on a 2000+ trip through the mountains. It was solid but did often scrape on driveway entrances/exits. I agree with another reviewer who thought it sat back too far. Also, it doesn't accomodate a hitch lock. Pretty odd; I guess I don't have that much faith in my fellow man. I ended up getting the thickest elongated padlock I could find and used it as my hitch lock. I had no problems. It's a little awkward to fit in but still doable by one person. It's a very good product

Yakima Big PowderHound Snow Roof Rack Review

Yakima Big PowderHound Snow Roof Rack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Big Powder Hound is a great rack for hauling multiple pairs of ski's or snowboards. Mounting was extremely quick & easy as well as being secure. Construction seems robust enough to last for a long time. I did add the sks locks & they have worked great as well. However I did have 1 lock freeze up on a particularly nasty day, might want to keep a can of spray on ice melter handy to deal with that possible issue.

Yakima FatCat 4-Ski Rooftop Carrier Review

Yakima FatCat 4-Ski Rooftop Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My fat cat got broken in the highway 70, ruined all the skiis and boards with it last year after using it about 4 months. I liked the design and look on my 4runner but it's not durable to highway speeds with 25 mpg gust winds...

Click Here to see more reviews about: Yakima FatCat 4-Ski Rooftop Carrier

The current trend in skis is just like the necktie trend in the '70s--they just keep getting fatter. That's why Yakima released the four-ski FatCat rooftop carrier, which is wide enough for four pairs of fat skis or two snowboards. The FatCat boasts a low-profile mounting system that works on round bars, square bars, and most factory roof racks right out of the box. The carrier's massive jaws and unique hinge system, meanwhile, hold your skis and boards comfortably and securely.
Thanks to the FatCat's aerodynamic shape, you won't suffer from poor gas mileage on the highway, nor will the carrier make annoying whistling sounds as you drive. Other details include an integrated SkiLift feature that easily clears tall bindings, rubber edging that's gentle on your gear, and SKS compatibility. The FatCat carries a one-year warranty.

Thule TTTO-4 Black Large Trunk Organizer Review

Thule TTTO-4 Black Large Trunk Organizer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had high hopes for this product since keeping things organized in my trunk is challenging. I have a hatchback and always keep the back seats folded down. I am also not able to fully grasp the concept of "traveling light" so there's always a lot of stuff knocking about.
I have an organizer that I really like - it's made by Rola (their M.O.V.E. model which comes in various sizes and is sold by Amazon). It has moveable dividers, collapsible, and is perfect for keeping grocery bags and the like secure in the trunk. But, it's low, so tall things can topple out. I had been using an old plastic bin to carry taller items, and thought the Thule bag would be much better.
Well, it looks nice, but in terms of actual use, doesn't offer any more value than my $1.99 plastic bin. The Thule bin has the capability to collapse, but it's somewhat ackward to do - the metal rods are tough to wedge into place. It's a two-handed operation. The Rola design is much better/easier.
There's no dividers within the bin, nor are there any pockets on the outside. It's basically a nylon representation of a box, with a zipper on the top and handles on the side. The base is non-skid, but is not all that grippy. Stopping short caused the bin to slide quite a bit.
I wish I could be more positive about this since Thule does make some good products. While this is well-built (good zipper, nice stiching, and quality nylon material) it needs to go back to the drawing board -- either add more value to it by adding features such as dividers, pouches, etc. or drop the price by way more than half. As it stands, if you buy this you're paying an awful lot for something that is functionally equivalent to a plain box.

Thule TTVO-1 Black Visor Organizer Review

Thule TTVO-1 Black Visor Organizer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Failed on all of my expectations, unfortunately. This unit is designed to be a pocket/organizer that fits on the mirror side of the sun visor. Unfortunately, it's far too thick to allow my sun visor to close up against the ceiling, thus encumbering my view out of the windshield. It causes the sun visor to angle downwards by about 2-3 inches right in front of me and in my line of sight. This is with the velcro straps as tight as they will go. This is due to the organizer itself being about 1.5 inches thick when empty and the simple fact that it angles the visor down from the pivot points close to the windshield.
If I take it off and turn it around so that it's on the opposite side of the sun visor, the visor will close, but the organizer dangles down almost as much, still into my line of vision down the road. This was almost as big a failure as it was the other way.
Of course, if you were to put anything into the pockets, it would make the organizer that much thicker and, therefore, cause that much more of a problem.
Modern cars have interiors designed to make the sun visors flush with the headliner/ceiling of the car. There's not really enough room there for even a magazine, much less something the thickness of a book. The only cars where this might be useful would be convertibles or possibly older cars with capacious ceilings where the sun visors can flip way up high and out of the way. This does not work on my modern pickup or any sedans I know of.
Nice idea, just not practical at all.

Thule 667TT Excursion Rooftop Cargo Box Review

Thule 667TT Excursion Rooftop Cargo Box
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Perfect size for our small SUV, (Hyundai Tucson). I'm sure there's an MPG loss, but it's in the noise and less than running the air conditioner. It's reasonably sturdy, unnoticeably quiet and has a couple of spring loaded devices that hold it open. From the pictures, I expected something a little more "squat" but it's "right" for the car and easily sits far enough back to nominally fit the aerodynamic profile of the car, such as it is. Doesn't look as "dorky" as some of the others on the market. It's also light enough that I've been able to hang it on the wall in the garage.
The pleasant surprise is how roomy the carrier is, more than I imagined.
I'm not to crazy about the "universal" mounting system that hooks to the roof rack crossbars. It's solid, but has four knobs that stick up into the carrier. It's just a little crude, but effective and in most cases wouldn't be a purchase decision factor. I'll probably cut some bolts to the proper length and install self locking acorn nuts, but that's just personal preferance and would work since I leave the carrier mounted on the crossbars even when it's off the vehicle. If you're mounting to factory crossbars, the Thule system works well, though you'll probably want to install some thin padding on the metal hardware. Also a small handle on the top at the back would help to open it and I may add one. One person can place it on the vehicle, and though it's light it's a little awkward and much easier with two. When I install it myself, I put a packing blanket on the roof rack first to protect the surface of the car, then slide it out from under before tightening down the carrier.
Comes with a 5 year warranty too. I missed that in the product info.

Thule TTSB-1 Black Seat Back Sling Organizer Review

Thule TTSB-1 Black Seat Back Sling Organizer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This bag is WONDERFUL.
I really thought it was going to be like a giant totebag that you sling over the car seat and use for storage, but it's really not. Instead, it's like a very sleek messenger bag- spacious enough for a laptop, diapers, change of clothes, etc, but has a sleek profile and is not bulky at all. It's small enough that you can throw it over your shoulder and carry it wherever you are going, whether it's an afternoon at the library, the afternoon at the park, of a few days on vacation. This does NOT look like luggage OR storage, but provides the benefits of both.
Best part are the roomy, cushioned pockets. The bag offers excellent protection for whatever you decide to stow in it. We have both a preschooler AND laptops, and there is room for everything. I would feel very safe throwing one of our Macbooks into the bag and having it be "bumped" around. The bag is insulated, so if you want to pack it with food for a car trip or picnic, you can do that, too.
This is a great item for a student, a parent, a professional, an athlete- whatever. It's the perfect solution to the need for more organized storage in the car and the need for something to carry around that doesn't *look* like storage or luggage. We're going to get one for the other car.

Thule 866 Escape II Rooftop Cargo Bag Review

Thule 866 Escape II Rooftop Cargo Bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I used this bag on a trip from NH to NJ and back.
Feedback on said bag, after roughly 600 miles = A-
It held a baby stroller, Four decent sized gym bags, and my sneakers. I had a LOT of room to spare. I really could have gotten away with a smaller bag for this particular trip, but once I fill it up with camping junk, the larger size will definately come in handy.
I attached it via the factory rack on a 2005 Subaru Outback. I attached two front strap to the front, and the to rear straps were in the "holes" at the way back of the OB side rails.
I had to pull over a couple of times as the excess on the straps worked they way loose and would slap around in the wind. I am going to work out a better system for securing the excess on future trips.
Wind noise was minimal. MPG only suffered about 1 mpg (on board computer based calculations).
I can't speak for it's ability to repel water as it never rained on the trip. I had brought trash bags to put stuff in just in case.
Pros:
- Cost- a HUGE bonus for me over the black boxes
- Easy to use
- VERY easy to store vs the black boxes
- Fairly quiet
- No significant (IMO) gas mileage loss.
Cons:
- Not that secure from theft as you can just cut the bag to steal stuff. Not an issue for us, because since we had the dog with us, we never left the car alone anyway.
- Had to remove the bag once I got to the destination as it was empty and had no weight in it to hold it down. The install/ removal, once I got used to the bag, was about 5 minutes each. Really not that big of a deal.
- Straps and the factory rails were not a good match imo, as I couldn't get everything REALLY tight, but the bag never moved at all during the trip, so it did work. I need to work on a better way of securing the excess. The straps that were tucked under the heavier gym bags stayed, but the lighter gym bags and the wind resistance made the straps come loose. I had to tie them around themselves to get them to stay.
All in all, I'd buy the bag again.

Thule 689USXT Spirit 1600 Rooftop Cargo Box (Silver) Review

Thule 689USXT Spirit 1600 Rooftop Cargo Box (Silver)
Average Reviews:

Just purchased this for my 2007 Honda CRV to give us extra storage now that we have a dog and baby. Installs in 10 minutes with no extra tools - super easy. Fits tons of gear, including a stroller and several duffel bags. Opens easily from either side. The low profile cuts down on wind resistance and lets you get into some (although not all) parking garages. Sleek design and silver color look great too. My only complaint is that my back hatch will not open fully with the cargo box on, even though the Thule Web site says that this box is compatible with my 2007 CRV. Opens wide enough to let the dog in, though, so it's not a big deal.

Thule TTFS-1 Black Front Seat Organizer Review

Thule TTFS-1 Black Front Seat Organizer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Front Seat Organizer is a nice looking and durable bag for carrying laptop, files, papers, etc. It's made of a tough fabric with large sturdy handles and lots of inside dividers and pockets to keep everything neat. The fact that it can be strapped in so that it doesn't slide around in the car is a nice bonus.
I have a couple of small issues with the bag which made it 3 stars instead of 4 stars. The bag doesn't zip or close in any way so any items in the bag are clearly visible and easily accessible to thieves. Also, if you're running through the rain, your papers and electronics are exposed to the weather. Secondly, my husband has an older laptop and it's a bit bulkier than the newer models. He has a hard time squeezing it into the bag. For anyone who spends all day in their car and needs easy access to files, laptop and misc. items related to business, this bag serves as a portable filing cabinet and I can see that it would be a big help.
