Swagman Locking Anti-wobble Threaded Hitch Pin - 1/2 - 64029 Review

The Swagman 2 bike rack that this is supposed to fit is a great bike rack. I am completely confused as to why these locking pins don't fit the model they are made for. I have now purchased two locking pins from Swagman and neither fit my rack??? I don't know if i'm missing something! I wouldn't mind some professional help here. and yes, i have already looked up my model numbers to make sure i'm talking about the correct equipment.

Swagman XP Fold Down 4-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Receiver) Review

Swagman XP Fold Down 4-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Receiver)
Average Reviews:

Swagman's claim on this rack is that it:
"provides the ultimate in flexibility to accommodate a variety of bike frame designs"
So I figured I'd spend a little extra $$ on the rack and avoid buying a bunch of crossbars. Unfortunately, the rotating cradles are so big that quite a few bikes (including my GT XCR) start having trouble fitting into them without quite a bit of twisting and pushing, on top of that pretty much render crossbars useless.
It is a good rack but I'd recommend getting the non-rotating cradles if you really want more flexibility in the bikes it can accommodate.

This prevents your bike from swaying while attached to your Thule Hitch Mount Bike Rack. I'm sure you can easily tie your bike stable without it, but if you use multiple bikes on one rack, this keeps them from swaying into each other. I am happy with the purchase, the build quality and the price.

Softride Access Versa 2-Bike Platform Hitch Rack Review

Softride Access Versa 2-Bike Platform Hitch Rack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Access Versa Softride rack is by far and away one of the sturdiest racks I have ever owned (and it shows in it's weight). The construction is rock solid and when driving, whether there are 1, 2, or 0 bikes on the rack, there is no wobble, bouncing, or rattling. The rack also comes with a locking hitch-pin and a cable lock for locking your bikes to the rack to prevent theft.
Loading bikes is easy; just set them on the rack and secure the tires using the rubber straps. The rack also has an incredibly easy-to-use folding mechanism that allows you to put the rack up in 2 seconds. However, setting the rack up for loading your bike the first time (or for a different bike) is not so easy. Adjusting the bike cradle section involves significant strength to extend or compress it, though once it is in place it is very secure. Also, I would not recommend this rack to road cyclists; the wheel chocks are far to big (wide) to secure a thin road bike tire securely and as I will explain below, even my Gary Fisher mountain big with it's wide, nobby tires does not feel entirely secure while driving at interstate highway speeds.
The bikes sit in the cradle with only the wheels touching the rack, which is good to protect the paint on the frame but is also the source of my biggest concern about the rack. When driving above 50mph, which I do frequently, I have found that my bike leans back significantly and in a heavy wind it actually look like it will fall off the back of the rack (imagine loading your bike then pushing on the upper part of the frame until it slowly falls over). To counteract this, I have been using the provided cable lock and the extra rubber strap to secure the frame of my bike to my car (I wrap the rubber strap around the upper part of my frame and then use a padlock to connect the strap to the cable which I thread through my hitch). This keeps the bike more upright and secure when driving, but I do wish that Softride could provide a solution to this issue.
That being said, this rack is still one of the best made, highest quality racks on the market and I am satisfied with my purchase. Loading bikes for a quick drive on city streets to a trail shouldn't give anyone an issue and if you have an SUV the vehicle should actually block a lot of the wind that causes this issue for me (I have a Subaru Legacy sedan).

Swagman 2011 Traveler XC 2 Bike RV Rack - 64663 Review

Swagman 2011 Traveler XC 2 Bike RV Rack - 64663
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have been looking for a bike rack for our 5th wheel camper that was not flopping around like a fish when going down the road. We had a frame style rack that swayed and bounced to the point we were afraid to use it with the pour conditions of most roads these days. I had replaced the stock bumper with 1/4" thickness tubing for strengh, but the upper frame style rack still wobbled severly.
I decided to try a tray style rack and the Swagman Traveler XC 2 seemed to fit my needs. Upon it arriving, I found that because of the inward slope at the lower area of my camper, I did not have enough clearance to use the rack in the stock configuration without the handle bars rubbing on the back wall. I determined that I needed 9" more length in the 2" main tube to allow clearance at the handle bars as well as the spare tire also mounted on the back bumper. I purchased a piece of 2" tubing with the same wall thickness as the stock tubing for about $8.00 at a local welding shop and my freind the machinist installed the threaded bar stock insde the tube for the connecting bolt. With a few dollars and an hour at the machine shop, my bike rach is rock solid with no wobble or movement.
I am very satisfied with the Swagman product in it's stock form, just had to modify for my aplication.

Swagman XTC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (1.25 and 2-Inch Receiver) Review

Swagman XTC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (1.25 and 2-Inch Receiver)
Average Reviews:

I'm going to try a do two different ratings here, so bare with me.
BIKERACK (5 stars): the bike rack has some issues, that seem to be standard with these "import" models (Swagman/SportRack); however, that being said: the bikes are very well secured and very well protected. The ratcheting arm clamps go down tightly and stay there. No friction knobs to keep checking. Once you push them down, they stay there, and there is a place to put a pad lock on each for anti-theft security. The hooks are also padded and did not mark up the bikes even in the slightest. Due to the flexibility of the rack I was able to get a large men's bike and small woman's bike loaded and was able to arrange them so everything made good positive contact; hooks, wheel straps, etc.. Overall, I'm not the least bit worried the bikes will come loose during transit. Excellent design and so very easy to use.
CONSTRUCTION (3.5 stars): this is where all these import models seem to fail; but it's due to their flexibility of use. The entire rack is made from 1-1/4" steel tube. This was done so you could use the rack on a 1-1/4" receiver hitch. With this light steel there is some inherent "flex" that allows the rack to wiggle. It would have been much better to use bigger steel that fit a standard 2" receiver, then have an adapter to go down to the 1-1/4" receiver. I'm going to use the rack a few more times as is, but I may make some modifications to it to help sturdy things up a lot more. The anti-wobble bolt, while a great idea probably works well on the 1-1/4" receiver, but with the supplied "adapter" it doesn't do a good enough job on the 2" receiver. In review of both Swagman & Sport Rack, they're made exactly the same, except for the following: Swagman has ratcheting locking support hooks which are excellent; the Sportrack uses a friction lock, don't like that. Both racks use metric hardware, so if you think you're going to replace a bolt with standard hardware, no dice, the threads are different, etc. The Swagman can also be used on Class I hitches and above, whereas the Sportrack is for Class II and above. Packaging of this Swagman rack, finish, easy of assembly and use were nice.

Swagman XC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Receiver) Review

Swagman XC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Receiver)
Average Reviews:

This rack is advertized as easy to put together out of the box, and easy to use once you are ready to to ride. Both of these statements are completely true. We have one man's and one woman's comfort bikes and the different length center main clamps of the rack are perfectly suited to these differences in bike design. The rack is very easy to insert and lock into our trailer hitch and the bikes are extremely easy to load requiring only a minimal lift and support to set and lock them into the rack. Definitely truth in advertising!
