Rola 59401 TX 104 Four Bike Hitch Mount Review

Rola 59401 TX 104 Four Bike Hitch Mount
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A design flaw allows the user to accidentally lock the rack while in the down position. Then, when returning the rack to the up position the lock pin sheers off while bending the main post beyond repair. With two bikes on the rack, raising the rack is so difficult that the slight added resistance of the lock demolishing the main post is barely noticeable. I spent twice as much on my next bike rack ... the Dura ... which is much easier to lower and raise, and does not self destruct.

Softride 25219 QuietRide Hitch Pin
Average Reviews:

I secured the pin and lock very easily and it seemed like it was all set. I drove about 3 hours and checked it and it was fine. I drove another 3 hours and the lock piece was gone. So be very very very carefull when you put on the lock. I was very carefull and I was 100% sure it was on correctly. So check it several times to make sure it is definitely secure. The pin alone will still keep your item attached so there is no safety issue.

The product depicted in the picture is the old model developed by Curt for the prius, this design causes the exhaust gases to overheat the rear bumper cover and cause it to melt.
Be sure to get the latest model from Curt which has a "cut-out" for the tailpipe.

Five stars except!
It was great items in term of heavy duty material used in it. Very well welded and bended, the picture is not the same of the item I was received I know that before I purchased the item so it was not surprising thing to me. It was shipped and sold by [....] they could not estimate the right price for the international shipping when I checked out so they sent me an email to add some money for the extra shipping cost to Saudi Arabia and I agreed. They were great with the time it got me with in 7-10 days with UPS.
I will give the item curt 13220 five stars but because one of the fitting holes was not directly fit due to miss calculated measurements in the factory of Curt. So you need to force it in which I did, or have it filed or something...
My car was VW Touareg 2005.

Allen Deluxe 4-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Receiver) Review

Allen Deluxe 4-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Receiver)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It was really easy to put together and use. It was well packed - it emerged unscathed from a very scathed box. The steel seems thin until you relaize that it is just carrying bikes, not a trailor. It is strong enough and doesn't weigh a ton.
However... It comes in three main pieces that you bolt together. The resulting rack does exactly what it is supposed to. And it is solid. That's almost enough. The problem is that a thief must remove, at most, two bolts to steal your bikes. I used some Locktite on the bolts and cured that little failing. Now the bolts can't come out and the rack is about perfect.

This Deluxe Hitch Mounted Bike Carrier by Allen holds four bikes and is ideal for weekend biking trips with friends and family outings. A tie-down system securely holds and protects each bicycle while 22-inch carry arms drop out of the way when not in use. Appropriate for two-inch hitches, this carrier includes a strap which eliminates lower bike movement. Minor assembly and simple set up of the carrier is required.
About Allen Bike Racks In 1967, after a few years of working on the aerospace technology for the Apollo missions, Dick Allen was out of a job. Government cutbacks led Allen, a Harvard-trained physicist, to transform his garage hobby into a new industry. A cycling enthusiast, inventor, and family man, Allen had a personal need for a bike-carrying device. On weekends, he would take his sons and wife to Cape Cod or the White Mountains of New Hampshire. What proved difficult time and again was the transport of his family's bicycles. Rather than fight through inconvenience with twine and a dinged car, Allen sought an answer for himself as well as a market in which he foresaw major growth possibilities.
Always a pathfinder, Allen took to work in his Lincoln, Massachusetts garage in search of a more efficient way to transport bikes. Drafting designs during the day and constructing them throughout the night, he put together a model made of electrical conduit, metal strapping, and fire hose casings (for padding). At first, the Allens tested the prototype on weekend excursions. Finding the first trunk-mounted rack to be a success, Dick started Allen Bike Racks. Dealer acceptance came quickly, and by 1971 Allen Bike Racks were sold nationally through a number of major bicycle distributors. Today, the company owns over three dozen patents and offers a versatile product line of bike racks while Dick's son Alex now owns and operates the business. What started out as a small garage run operation now operates three warehouses nationally, two factories abroad, and has products sold in more than a dozen countries around the world.

Lund 601008 Cargo Carrier Side Bar Attachment Review

Lund 601008 Cargo Carrier Side Bar Attachment
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Used on a 2005 Tahoe. I did purchase the side rails and used criss-crossing bungee cords for stability. I had it well loaded with luggage and could not tell it was there when I was driving on my 13 hour trip. The only downside to this type of cargo carrier is that it is not waterproof. We went thru a rain shower and the luggage on the bottom was a bit damp. I had prepared for this by NOT putting any electronics inside the luggage. The fold-away feature is helpful if I need to drive it back home unloaded. On my Tahoe, the unit installed far enough out that I still had the ability to access my rear door!

SportRack A1124sp Backrider 3 Bike Trunk Mount Carrier Review

SportRack A1124sp Backrider 3 Bike Trunk Mount Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Slightly better than your $ 25.00 Walmart bike rack but not by a whole lot. Three bikes is virtually impossible to fit. Straps that hold the bike frame to the rack are totally useless even for the medium size mountain bike frames, they're simply too short to fasten around. Once I managed to squeeze three bikes onto this thing, the straps that hold the bike from the top of the of my SUV's loosened up, so I had to re-strap them. The whole thing was swinging pretty badly, mostly in the vertical motion, as the weight of 3 bikes proved to be too much for this thing. Not too bad for 2 bikes.

Saris T-RAX Basic 4 Bike Hitch Mount Rack (1.25-Inch Recevier) Review

Saris T-RAX Basic 4 Bike Hitch Mount Rack (1.25-Inch Recevier)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have this rack, but the base attachment has some "play" in the base. If you only load one bike on the rack, it will "rock" a little and be somewhat worrisome. If you only load one bike on, it is best to load it on the end of the rack furthest from the back of your vehicle to put more pressure on the base so it won't "rock."

You can saddle up the whole family, or the entire road team with this four-bike hitch mount bike rack from Saris. Made from strong and lightweight 2-1/2-inch steel tubing, the T-RAX has a tongue weight of 300 pounds with a carrying capacity 140 pounds. The 1-1/4-inch receiver hitch mounts is engineered to accommodate almost any bike size. The soft rubber hold-downs and pivoting anti-sways ensure that the rack doesn't make direct contact with the bike frame yet are adjustable so you can eliminate the wobble and pitch that can damage both of your vehicles.
The HitchTite base connects easily to your hitch receiver, and allows the rack to be tilted for rear access. The ratcheting carrier arms with QuickTite knobs secure your bike in one smooth motion, and make it possible to fold them out of your way when they're not in use. Safe and secure, the T-RAX from Saris is a sturdy and easy to use hitch mount carrying system.

Swagman Standard 4-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (1.25-Inch Receiver) Review

Swagman Standard 4-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (1.25-Inch Receiver)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the product. It holds bikes safely and securely. A couple of minor drawbacks: the rack sticks out quite a bit from the receiver, and it takes a while to unscrew the top plate which holds the bikes on the rack--there are three handles which have to be unscrewed about 2", unlike some others where each cradle has its own fastener. I would definitely buy this product again, though.

The Swagman 2 bike rack that this is supposed to fit is a great bike rack. I am completely confused as to why these locking pins don't fit the model they are made for. I have now purchased two locking pins from Swagman and neither fit my rack??? I don't know if i'm missing something! I wouldn't mind some professional help here. and yes, i have already looked up my model numbers to make sure i'm talking about the correct equipment.

I ordered this product "new". The box had been beat up, opened and resealed poorly. The parts bag and instructions were missing. I called Thule (the manufacturer) and they made it good, even though it wasn't their fault. 5 stars for Thule and this rack, no stars for either Amazon or UPS.

Yakima LittleJoe 3 Bike Carrier Review

Yakima LittleJoe 3 Bike Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I would NOT recommend this bike rack - awkward, flimsy and worst of all, it really isn't safe. I think it's ok for one bike, which is what I use it for most of the time, but I used it for two this weekend, and one of the bikes came off while I was driving down the interstate. There is nothing more terrifying than seeing your bike bounce down the highway!! We ended up tying the bike with some extra rope for the rest of the trip so it didn't happen again. Don't risk it! Buy a better rack!

Swagman XP Fold Down 4-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Receiver) Review

Swagman XP Fold Down 4-Bike Hitch Mount Rack (2-Inch Receiver)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Swagman's claim on this rack is that it:
"provides the ultimate in flexibility to accommodate a variety of bike frame designs"
So I figured I'd spend a little extra $$ on the rack and avoid buying a bunch of crossbars. Unfortunately, the rotating cradles are so big that quite a few bikes (including my GT XCR) start having trouble fitting into them without quite a bit of twisting and pushing, on top of that pretty much render crossbars useless.
It is a good rack but I'd recommend getting the non-rotating cradles if you really want more flexibility in the bikes it can accommodate.
