(More customer reviews)The description says it takes 30 minutes for installation. But, it took my mechanic 4 1/2 hours to do it, and he was very frustrated. The mounting bars did not fit the car well, and my mechanic had to work hard to stretch them. Worse, some bolts that come mounted to the mounting bars were crooked, and, after struggling with them for a long time, my mechanic had to break them off and solder new bolts on. The hitch is on my 2005 Mini convertible now. I haven't used the hitch yet, so I can't comment on how well it works.

Curt Manufacturing 13508 Class III Receiver Review

(More customer reviews)The hitch is fine, but installing it was a pain. This is a mix of the fact that it was being installed on a 97 Wrangler combined with the weird way you have to attach 2 of the nuts (they are on the end of metal handles that need to be fed into the frame). This probably is not the fault of Curt though, and is probably the only way to install a hitch on a 97 Wrangler. One of the nuts came off of the metal feeder thing though before it was even close to tight, causing problems (the other one went on fine). Two other bolts screw into weldnuts that are built into the Jeep frame, but were so rusty I had to invent my own method by drilling them out and then drilling a hole in the end of the frame that was big enough to get a wrench with a nut through to tighten the bolts. Again, not really the fault of Curt, just a rusty Jeep. I tried to get the weldnuts as clean as possible, but to no avail.

Yakima Mako Aero Saddles Review

(More customer reviews)As the other reviewer said: Buy two. The description indicates that this is for half a boat. Its done this way so you can use rollers on the back or another kind of saddle.
These are great saddles. The included felt allows the kayak to slide easily during loading and unloading. The included strap guides hold the strap in place beneath the boat to assist in placement. Once tightened, the a set of rubber guides are cinched against the boat to hold it firmly in place. The included straps have rubberized or plastic protectors to protect your car and kayak from scratches.
The con about the product is that the screws must be very tight on the round bars to ensure they do not rotate during loading or unloading.
All around it is an easy to use product that does the job well.

Curt Manufacturing 11430 Class I Receiver Review

First one was for a 2006 Chevy hhr. Very eazy to install.
The other hitch was for my 20011 Chevy Corbalt.
Not as eazy to installas the hhr hitch but If I knew what know now this hitch would also be very eazy to install.
I removed the trunh pan cover, spare tire & set the battery back away from where I would be drilling.
The rear dam was held by rubber/plactic fasteners, these & trime off so the the dam would come off.
Next I centered the hitch to the the bumper beam.
When I moved the hitch position then I could not see where I had marked the center so, I then used the liesence holder center as a reference. This worked ok.
It was hard to drill the 4 upper bolt holes as this beam is made of two thicknesses. A step drill might work good.
The bolts drop down from the top & I taped them on to the spacers as it is hard to reach these bolts with your fingers. I plan to use some sealer on the inside of the trunk & bolts & washers where I removed the dam.

Curt Manufacturing 11384 Class I Receiver Review

(More customer reviews)The Curt Manufacturing Class 1 receiver (11384) I purchased was installed on my 2007 MazdaSpeed 3. This is my first time installing, owning, and using towing equipment, so I was unsure of the results. I use it for a hitch mounted bike rake that holds 4 bikes.
Install:
The install was simple and required the drilling of four (I think) holes in the rear bumper frame assembly. It was simple and done with a battery hand drill. Next, fishing the bolts through the end-caps of the bumpers to the newly drilled holes using a guidewire took patience and an ounce of luck. After the second one they seemed to go in rather quickly. Finally torque all nuts down to spec. Overall, it took about 45 minutes with no prior experience.
Fit:
The receiver was actually too small and had some gap between the bumper frame assembly and the outer flanges of the receiver. Some reviewers recommended hammering/bending it into shape (we were unable to do this). I kept torquing down the nuts evenly and bent the flanges into shape that way. Now it's snug, but in retrospect, I probably should've used some sort of spacer or pre-bent the flanges. The receiver box shows from behind the car but nothing else. Rear ground clearance has only been reduced by a 2-3 inches from that part.
Performance:
I've used the receiver with the aforementioned hitch mount bike rack many times. The way the receiver mounts allows a certain flexibility on the rack as the weight is kept about 2.5 feet from the mounting points. This allows the bikes and rack to bounce excessively with the slightest of bumps. I'm going to drill and bolt in two more bolts closer to the receiver mount to eliminate most of this bounce. It hasn't caused and problems yet (especially on a 2000 mile road trip with some scary highway bounce), but I want to be safe. This is why I'm giving this 4 stars: the bounce, and poor fit between the frame.
Overall, it's a fantastic receiver with a few niggles. I've owned it for several months and I would buy it again had I the choice. On a clean install, I would've like to have made the above mentioned changes as well.

Highland 1980000 Space Master Vehicle Cargo Organizer Review

(More customer reviews)The cargo organizer came on time and was packed well enough to withstand rain for a few hours that it lay outside my front door. Assembly was relatively simple and the product has been quite useful in my car. It comes in extremely handy for Costco shopping when there are no bags - it allows me to stack items nicely in the trunk of my car.
The hinges to keep the different plates in place could be better - they are a bit flimsy. Given this, the price is slightly higher than what I would pay if I had seen the product physically before purchasing. However, it is much better than a $15 organizer with netting that I had used earlier.
Overall, I am reasonably satisfied.

Small but perfect for all my electronic stuff for the bike - comm device, 2way radio, MP3 player, phone, plus room for more. Also has a tranparent, fold out map envelope. Magnets are very strong. I rode in high winds and up to 90 mph and the magnets didn't budge. The one down side is that the rain cover is NOT waterproof.

Curt Manufacturing 13297 Class III Receiver Review

(More customer reviews)This hitch is for those that want to do it themselves in the driveway/garage. NO drilling, just need WD40, a LONG socket wrench/breaker bar, and a bucket or a wife willing to help. Check out the online video's if you need help on understanding how to install this monster, remember 2004+ Durangos are all built the same underneath basically.
The construction of this bar is very solid and shiny. Seams it would take alot to beak the bar. The include bolts replace 4 of the 6 factory bolts used to attach the bar to the frame. I think these are where the problem would be if there ever was an issue. But after install it is very solid, of course this is only after i did the jump up & down test and there was no indication of movement.
This hitch is POSITIONED UNDER the bumper and not in the notch that is available, the other type of hitch that requires drilling/cutting and bumper removal to install fits there (much harder to install yourself). The look after completion is not bad, but it wasn't what i expected. But hey you have a trailer hitch now right?
Over all i am happy, it does the job, but what i don't like is the exhaust now blows into the hitch becuase it is under the bumper, so it affects the sound of my baby now... and of course i wish it had fit in the notch to make it look uniform. But i am willing to live with it for the price i paid. Contact me if you would like to see pics to help your buying decision.

Being a 1941 Cadillac coupe, the tires are only 4.9" wide, easily within the 12" width requirement in the description. My dissatisfaction is in three areas - suitability for purpose (not), product quality, and vendor response (no refund on shipping). Suitabilty for purpose - The description doesn't specify the tire size (ie front to back) measurement, saying instead they will fit "any car". Mine are 7 x5.0, nothing exceptionally big, about 29.5". Still despite the description they would not fit my car. (They probably wouldn't fit my 10 year old standard 3/4 ton Ford with stock tires either for that matter). Product quality - The products themselves were not real well made - initially one even leaked about half a pint of hydraulic oil through the pressure reducing valve. I tightened it and refilled it at my own trouble and minor expense. Once I got them working, the jacks required a lot of foot pumping to raise another vehicle they actually would fit. So I negotiated with the vendor and received permission to return them, for which they promised to refund all my money. Vendor response - The purchase price was refunded but the return shipping was not. If this was a minor amount I would just move on with life and forget about it, but it's $140 as they are very heavy. Several attempts made to reason with them but they see no problem with my being out that much money and having nothing to show for it because "it's on their website". I suggest buying something with a mechanical ratchet action as opposed to the hydraulic version, and I certainly urge you not to buy from T-Motorsports.

Lisle 40210 Green 3/8" Magnetic Socket Holder Review

(More customer reviews)Sockets have been the bane of my existence. No matter how carefully I put them down, they seem to end up rolling around on the floor or in the toolchest. I used to waste a good 5-10 minutes per task simply sorting through them to find the right one. Given some of my projects would require 3-4 different socket sizes, this chewed up time. I tried the vertical plastic holders sold at Sears; these are the types where you drop the socket on a stick. Fail. The sticks would break off, deep and large-diameter sockets wouldn't fit properly/securely, the whole tray would slide around and they weren't really portable.
This tray has solved my problem. There's a long magnet underneath the tray to hold the tray to the toolchest or other metallic surface. There's a magnet at each socket slot, holding the socket in the slot. First, the bad news: they really are green, the green is an ugly fluorescent green and they are designed for graded sockets. Basically, you can't put 10 24 mm deep sockets in them and they don't look pretty. Now, the good news: the magnets are strong, sockets fit, hex bits fit, torx bits fit, there's a carrying handle and they are fairly rugged. I turned them upside down and shook them pretty vigorously and couln't get any of the sockets to fall out.

Out of the box this item was not square, even, or the same size where it should have been. The basket was bent and sagged to the right with no weight on it. Two of the perimeter bars on the right side were longer then the left so one side was wider than the other. One of the angled support (flat bars) underneath was bent. Once I put two full coolers its sagged dangerously but held. It barely fits two normal size coolers causing them to be canted sideways to fit. The unit should of been made a little bit wider and a few inches longer and of heavier gauge steel but for 155 bucks you get what you pay for. I have had SURCO products for years but their QC has gone down hill and it shows in their products. They appear to be made fast with cheap materials by unskilled labor!
