I have owned the ProGrip Twist Lock Cargo Bar for about a month. We have used this in both our truck and SUV and it is a great cargo bar. I looked at several types of cargo bars before deciding on this one, specifically the "ratcheting" type. I found the ratcheting type mechanism to be complex, not to use, but in design and worried about longevity. The "quick release" type mechanism, like that found on some cargo straps, is a simple design and incorporates very few moving parts unlike the ratcheting type. There is a lock for the quick release to keep it from being accidentally disengaged. The lock reminds me of the safety feature found on many firearms (rifles and shotguns). The twist portion of the name of this cargo bar refers to each end with has a screw action at each rubber bumper. Once you have the cargo bar extended to the desired length, you twist it to expand it further to tighten it down. I found this again to be superior to the ratcheting action, as you have more control over how much pressure is exerted by the cargo bar on the sides of the bed of the truck or cargo area of an SUV. This is crucial to not bending the bed or breaking the plastic found on the walls of most SUV cargo areas.
We have used this with various loads, mostly in the truck and have been very pleased with how well it stays in place. In the SUV it works well to keep items from falling over or rolling around. We have used this in both mid size and full size SUVs and trucks without issue.
The only concern I have, and it is small, is with the neoprene like grip that is on bar. I wonder how long it will last while exposed to weather or other items inherent in being in the bed of a truck. If it does deteriorate or falls off, it would not effect the usability of the cargo bar. As it stands now, I don't use the grip unless happen to grab the bar at its location.
The bar itself seems very durable and has a solid feel to it; not loose or cheap feeling. The chrome piece that extends from the main body of the bar seems durable as well although I do expect it to rust over time, but this seems inherent with all cargo bars. Hopefully some WD-40 will prevent this.
