Why I rated it a 3 out of 5 is that it comes with a bolt that needs to be tightened in the vehicle hitch.
One can't just use the usual clip that we all use for connecting trailers, etc to our trailer hitch.
That means that if you wish to use this hitch mount T on a van or suv it's a pain and time consuming to get into the back of your van or suv.

Yakima Bow/Stern Tie Down Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased these tie-down straps with a full rack and canoe kit. The tiedows were very pricey, but they claimed they cam with a protective tube over the ropes to prevent paint scratches.
Let me save you some trouble- Don't bother with these. Get some normal tie-down straps or even some good rope, and wrap them in a towel or cloth. The plastic rope covers scratched the paint on my car very badly, and didn't really offer any other benefit.
The one good feature about these straps is the ratcheting system- When you pull the rope tighter, a ratchet locks it into place until the ratchet lever is pulled. This isn't to say it replaces a good cargo strap, since the rope does tend to come loose, but with some good knot tying, you can get it pretty solid.
Overall, the product quality is as expected, but in the end it was a waste.
I rate things as follows:
1 star - Far below expectations / Completely unsatisfactory
2 star - Below expectations / Unsatisfactory
3 star - Met expectations / Satisfactory
4 star - Exceeded expectations / Very satisfactory
5 star - Far exceeded expectations / Beyond satisfactory

Reese Towpower 7018100 Canoe Loader Review

(More customer reviews)There is no way this thing will work on my Econoline. It is way too short. I can not return it as I do not have time for it. I am going to have to find a piece of 1.25" square tube 4ft long and throw out the extension tube that came with the loader. The rub strips will not adhere to the cross piece. The sticky strip paper layer fell off in the box because the adhesive is dried up. I'll have to fix that as well. Waste of time..... I could have had one built by a metal fab shop or made one out of PVC for less pain. I feel like Charlie Brown when Lucy pulls the football... Aaaargh!!!! I should have known...

(More customer reviews)I use Yakima DryDock Boat Hitch Mount rack to haul huge Current Designs Libra XT double kayak on top of my Toyota 4Runner. I am very pleased with the rack, it keeps the kayak very secure. You don't have to worry about longitudinal kayak wobbling when you drive over the rough terrain or speed bumps! I've noticed some latitudinal movement of the rack, though I have not observed any negative effects of it. As far as I can tell, this is pretty much the only option to haul something long and heavy on top of 4Runner as the roof base for putting a two-crossbar roof rack is very small unless your truck has factory-installed rails. To give you a complete picture of my setup, I also use Yakima BoatLoader accessory on my front roof-mounted crossbar. This allows me to load and unload the heavy beast by myself, which makes my life so much easier. Granted, you can't open the rear cargo door with this rack in the trailer hitch, but I can live with that.

(More customer reviews)This product arrived swiftly and efficiently as per other Amazon transactions and looks like it will work out fine once the weather warms up. An annoying detail NOT MENTIONED in the description, however, is that the product INCLUDES the bow/stern tie-downs (Thule 855 Thule 855 Quick Draw Boat Bow/Stern Tie Down Rachets) that are recommended with this rack. DO NOT buy the bow/stern tie-downs as an extra item (like I did) or else you will end up with two sets of them and may end up missing the 30-day return deadline and getting stuck with them (also like I did). Other than that, the rack has typical Thule construction and will perform it's duty well once installed and the rivers thaw out.
