Lund 601018 Bike Carrier Adapter Review

(More customer reviews)Prior to purchase the company's Customer Service agent told me the security of the bike would be maintained since the opening mechanism was located in the center of the bar and would be covered by the locking mechanism of the carrier itself. However this is NOT the case as the opening mechanisms are both exposed once the bikes are loaded and locked into place. After I received the item and called them again it I was told by customer service they knew nothing re the item as they did not manufacture it themselves and i needed to talk to a tech. Once I heard from the tech, about a day later he confirmed that it cannot be secured. It works but is not secure, so if you intend to leave the bike on the rack w/o you being present the bike will need to be secured by other means.

Surco A100 Conversion Bar Bicycle Rack Adapter For Select Bicycles Without Top Tubes Review

(More customer reviews)The concersion bar seems extremely flimsy compared to other models on the market, does not seem sturdy enough for long distance. The telescopic tubes should have stopper so that they would not disassemble during installation on the bike. The conversion bar is extremely awkward to install with the bolting type mechanism.

SportRack - A34500 - Alternative Bike Adaptor Review

(More customer reviews)I like this product for the most part. It does what it claims. It clamps easily to your bike and allows you to transport it on a bike car carrier somewhat horizontal. My bike carrier clamps to the product firmly but the adaptor fits loosely on the bike, ( i wish it would fit the bike tightly but it doesn't. I have a way to modify it but I just don't have the time). You also need to securely attach bike with straps to carrier otherwise bike may bounce. On my setup, the adaptor fits around the bottom of the seat and handle bars. It states in the instructions to make sure your seat and handlebars are secure or they will detach from the bike. THEY ARE ACCURATE. Just install per instructions and you shall arrive at your destination with your bike. I purchased one from Sports Chalet and one from Amazon.com. Amazon was cheaper. Have fun!

SpareHand Bike Frame Adaptor Review

(More customer reviews)I bought an old bike rack from craigs list and my son's bike wouldn't fit on it - the bar was too thick. To top it off, I ride a "girl bike" so mine wouldn't fit either. I was about to give up when I heard about bike frame adapters. This thing is great! It's portable, easily attaches, sturdy and makes my bikes fit on my bike rack. Now I just keep it in my trunk for when I need it.

Swagman Bar Adapter Deluxe Review

(More customer reviews)The Swagman Bar Adapter Deluxe and Sparehand Bike Frame Adapter are identical products. I couldn't find any specifications for the products, thought I would try one of each and was surprised to find that they were one in the same. Only the packaging was different. If you're not sure if this will work for you, the Sparehand would be much easier to repackage since the Swagman came in a tamper-proof hard plastic package with rivets to hold it together.
The products were sturdy, but the button and small uncoated metal components are not stainless steel and therefore prone to rusting if exposed to the elements. The products are easy to disassemble, however, so you could clean or oil the components if necessary.
If you think these adapters might be a little too long for your needs, it is clear that you could disassemble one and cut the two sliding bars down using a hack saw, pipe cutter, etc. without any difficulty.

Thule No-Sway Cage Accessory - 2 Pack Review

(More customer reviews)I was skeptical. How effective could these actually be? But for the price I figured "why not give them a try?"
Worth the extra $20 or so. Although there was little to no sway with the Thule rack in the first place (I love my Thule rack - the 912), these keep the bikes extra firm and in their place when you're on backroads. But, I think most importantly, these cages keep the bikes from banging into each other and causing unnecessary frame dings.
Cons:
A little bit of a hassle to put on and take off - maybe 5 minutes extra to secure two bikes.
Also, you have to throw them in your car rather than leave them on the rack - too easy to steal so why risk it.
I like them - I recommend as long as they're less than $20.

Thule 982 Bicycle Frame Adapter for Strap and Hitch carriers Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased two Thule 982 Bicycle Frame Adapters for Thule 964 Revolver 4-Bike Hitch Mount Rack from the Amazon retailer, Rack Attack. PROS: 1) Because of the numerous different bicycle frame configurations, it will quickly become apparent to the strap/hitch carrier user that mounting the bicycles level is difficult. Attaching the Thule 982 Bicycle Frame Adapter ends to the bike's handle bar and seat stems will make this procedure much easier. For this application, the product seems well designed. CONS: 1) One of adapters I received from the Amazon retailer had rusted bolts while still inside the packaging! However, shortly after being exposed to the ouside environment during use, all the lock bolts on both adaptors quickly rusted. At the stated MSRP, stainless steel hardware would have been the fair and better choice. 2) The rubberized coating on the metal ends of the adaptors will ultimately tear or wear down due to use, UVA exposure, etc.. As a result, the exposed metal ends of the adaptors could damage the bike's finish. Take care to protect the rubberized coating during use and storage. In conclusion, it is my opinion that the Thule 982 Frame Adaptor is both a well designed and needed accessory for the strap/hitch carrier user.

Yakima Tube Top Women's or Dual Suspension Bike Rack Frame Adapter Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this to work with a bike without a top tube that I currently have to mount "upside-down" and use the angled downtube to mount. However this put the bike up very high and blocks rear view. However, this adapater does not work well with very large (ie: long) frames. The problem is in the basic design that this adapter will almost "pull apart" and not stay very solid at full extension. It almost feels like it will snap apart when fully extended and loaded with the bike on the hitch. I can't use it with my bike, but it does work with my kids bikes which are much smaller. For my bike I have tried a friends Saris adapter that works much better for a large bike and I am looking into buying this instead.

Allen Tension Bar Bicycle Cross-Bar Adaptor Review

However, on the packaging of the bar it specifically says the distance from the seat post to handle bar post needs to be at least 18 inches, no where does it say that on the online write up. So, it doesn't work for my daughters' bikes. Something to be aware of.
