I've used these pads for almost a year. They do a good job of keeping the bikes apart when on the rack.

We purchased this item so we could take our bikes on a camping trip. Got the van loaded up and tried to mount the item to our Mazda MPV. No such luck - it didn't fit! Tried to return it to AutoBarn and they wouldn't refund any shipping - the original or return. So now, I have no product and have to pay two shipping costs. I will NEVER buy from AutoBarn again!

Rola 59402 Three Bike Trunk Mounted Carrier Review

Rola 59402 Three Bike Trunk Mounted Carrier
Average Reviews:

Bought this bike rack based on the fact that pricing was good and this brand sells in alot of the bike stores. Amazon shipping etc was great as usual!! Installed rack on my car and the upper right strap wouldn't stay tight and hold up any of the weight. I needed to use the bike rack so I used some rope etc to make it work (which it did). When I went to take the bike down, the rubber strap that holds one of the bikes was snapped. I called the company to get replacement straps so I wouldn't have to send the bike rack back. Haven't seen the straps from Rolo and no one has returned my e-mails asking for status, so hence I sent this thing back to Amazon to order a different brand, like Allen who seems to get great reviews. All of the straps on this bike rack are lousy, this rack is not worth the money.

Highland 2002500 Universal Rear Mount Bike Carrier Review

Highland 2002500 Universal Rear Mount Bike Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this bike carrier for my 1971 VW Squareback. While I was able to attach it to my car, I did not feel it was secure enough to stay on with the weight of a bike on it. The clips on the ends of the top straps were not designed well; it seemed like it wouldn't take much to pull the out from the hatch of the car. They should also have had a rubber coating on them. The bottom straps had these huge hooks, which didn't attach well to anything on the car. I also think it needs side straps to really stabilize it. The plastic Michelin Man "padding" was cheesy.
I'm not sure if this is typical for all bike carriers, but I didn't like that I couldn't open my hatch without removing the whole carrier, not just the bike. I transport bike and dogs, and since the car has only 2 front doors, I need to be able to open my hatch to let the dogs out.
Another problem I had was with folding it. It's supposed to be foldable, but it was really difficult for me to pull the cross bars into place without catching my fingers. I sent it back.

Curt Manufacturing 11437 Class I Receiver Review

Curt Manufacturing 11437 Class I Receiver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Received the properly packaged hitch via UPS. Box was strong and protested the hitch well. The hitch itself was perfect with a good powder-coated blemish free finish. The install process did not go quite as smoothly as I was hoping for, but I found that watching 2 videos on YouTube helped a lot. (The directions do make more sense if you've seen the video a few times.) I'm somewhat of a car maintenance novice, but I was able to follow the directions and properly install the hitch. I don't have access to a car lift so I used ramps - plenty of room.
I have a Yak Double Down bike rack that I can now use on both vehicles. If you're looking to add a hitch mounted bike rack to your Civic, I really don't think you can beat the Curt.

SportRack A1124sp Backrider 3 Bike Trunk Mount Carrier Review

SportRack A1124sp Backrider 3 Bike Trunk Mount Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Slightly better than your $ 25.00 Walmart bike rack but not by a whole lot. Three bikes is virtually impossible to fit. Straps that hold the bike frame to the rack are totally useless even for the medium size mountain bike frames, they're simply too short to fasten around. Once I managed to squeeze three bikes onto this thing, the straps that hold the bike from the top of the of my SUV's loosened up, so I had to re-strap them. The whole thing was swinging pretty badly, mostly in the vertical motion, as the weight of 3 bikes proved to be too much for this thing. Not too bad for 2 bikes.

The concersion bar seems extremely flimsy compared to other models on the market, does not seem sturdy enough for long distance. The telescopic tubes should have stopper so that they would not disassemble during installation on the bike. The conversion bar is extremely awkward to install with the bolting type mechanism.

I ordered this product "new". The box had been beat up, opened and resealed poorly. The parts bag and instructions were missing. I called Thule (the manufacturer) and they made it good, even though it wasn't their fault. 5 stars for Thule and this rack, no stars for either Amazon or UPS.

Yakima Megajoe 3-Bike Trunk Rack Review

Yakima Megajoe 3-Bike Trunk Rack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After searching for quite a while I bought the MegaJoe and am happy. What I wanted? A sturdy trunk rack, holds 3 bikes, allows the trunk to open when installed, and of course good quality.
Setting it up from the box was fairly simple, but i would make one recommendation to Yakima. In the box is a car specific guide to help you install it correctly. For instance, for my Civic, it says how wide I should open the rack. The small problem is that after you have measured this (with your own tape measure...or for me, my foot) you either need to mark how far open you need it, or some other method to make sure you have the right distance between the padded metal ends when you use it again. My recommendation: 1) a sticker that is a ruler that you can stick in your trunk, or 2) make one of the straps have a printed ruler on it, etc, etc, etc...many options that would make this just a bit more consumer friendly.
But, they did think of most of the things that are important. I had an old Graber rack that was missing some intuitive things like little rubber bands to hold down the lose ends of the straps. This has those and makes it easier to shore up when it is in place.
Seems sturdy, held for a long windy freeway drive the other weekend.

Yakima LittleJoe 3 Bike Carrier Review

Yakima LittleJoe 3 Bike Carrier
Average Reviews:

I would NOT recommend this bike rack - awkward, flimsy and worst of all, it really isn't safe. I think it's ok for one bike, which is what I use it for most of the time, but I used it for two this weekend, and one of the bikes came off while I was driving down the interstate. There is nothing more terrifying than seeing your bike bounce down the highway!! We ended up tying the bike with some extra rope for the rest of the trip so it didn't happen again. Don't risk it! Buy a better rack!

Seems to do the trick securing my bikes to my rack. It's a bit of a pain to thread under my bumper to secure it, but that's probably just my car's fault. A good investment for bike security.

3 Bike Carrier- bike rack Review

This bike rack is strong and feels secure when it's set up but the actual setup is tricky. I have a sedan and the side straps don't work on the side of the trunk (they'll just slip off) I put both the side and lower straps on the lower part of the trunk and pulled them tight- this seems to work well. I drove a couple thousand miles with the rack and had no problem. It folds for storage- which is nice.

About Allen Bike Racks In 1967, after a few years of working on the aerospace technology for the Apollo missions, Dick Allen was out of a job. Government cutbacks led Allen, a Harvard-trained physicist, to transform his garage hobby into a new industry. A cycling enthusiast, inventor, and family man, Allen had a personal need for a bike-carrying device. On weekends, he would take his sons and wife to Cape Cod or the White Mountains of New Hampshire. What proved difficult time and again was the transport of his family's bicycles. Rather than fight through inconvenience with twine and a dinged car, Allen sought an answer for himself as well as a market in which he foresaw major growth possibilities.
Always a pathfinder, Allen took to work in his Lincoln, Massachusetts garage in search of a more efficient way to transport bikes. Drafting designs during the day and constructing them throughout the night, he put together a model made of electrical conduit, metal strapping, and fire hose casings (for padding). At first, the Allens' tested the prototype on weekend excursions. Finding the first trunk-mounted rack to be a success, Dick started Allen Bike Racks. Dealer acceptance came quickly, and by 1971 Allen Bike Racks were sold nationally through a number of major bicycle distributors. Today, the company owns over three dozen patents and offers a versatile product line of bike racks while Dick's son Alex now owns and operates the business. What started out as a small garage run operation now operates three warehouses nationally, two factories abroad, and has products sold in more than a dozen countries around the world.

I bought this rack for $35.00 to fit a VW Jetta. It held up well enough to haul two road bikes, but I wouldn't advise this product for mountain bikes. It may be a little awkward to get your bikes own initially, but once you figure out the best way to load them, the rack works out pretty well.

The rack comes fully assembled and the instructions for mounting it are reasonably clear and simple and the warnings to prevent improper mounting are clear. I only mount one bike on it and it does the job well. I presume it would work for two bikes but I have had no reason to carry two bikes. The Super Saver and free shipping made it a real bargain. The same rack in the sporting goods stores was $10-20 more expensive; Amazon wins on price and quick delivery (3 days).
