Rampage 76651 Rock Rage Front Bumper Tire Carrier with Receiver Review

Rampage 76651 Rock Rage Front Bumper Tire Carrier with Receiver

For the money there is no better deal. The bumper is built OK and should hold up to regular use. Fits my 35" tire wonderfully. The hinge and latch system are OK but not the best. I have seen better designs, but this works. The 2" receiver is not rated or ideal for towing and Im wondering if its a strong enough recovery point either??? Im happy with the looks and the fisnish is acceptable too. You can get better & stronger bumpers/tire carriers, but you will also pay for them.

WARN 63253 Tire Carrier Review

WARN 63253 Tire Carrier
Average Reviews:

I was happy to see that my tire carrier arrived in a timely manner. UNTIL I SAW THE BOX. This product was stated to be NEW...... maybe 10 years ago when it arrived at the warehouse. Then they opened it, then taped it back up, then opened, then taped, etc. etc. and it looked like it had been dropped from 40 feet up on several occasions. I can't believe the lack of care taken with this product. Unfortunatly, I need it to finish a project that has a deadline. So, it looks like I get to paint my NEW tire carrier, since it is in such shotty condition. I EXPECT MORE FROM AMAZON!

WARN 65508 Rock Crawler Rear Bumper Review

WARN 65508 Rock Crawler Rear Bumper

This bumper superceeds the stock jeep wrangler TJ bumper, I have a Jeep Wrangler 2001 Sahara. To install this bumper it requires you to drill 4 holes and gives you measurements and all. I would suggest though making the holes longer oval shaped because they have to fit into a pre threaded hole in the bumper to screw into. speaking of which unless you go the special tools and torq wrench have fun getting behind your gas tank to screw it in, you could drop the gas tank in all but mine was full so that didnt work out. Anyways all in all once the bumper was on it looked amazing. If you get the front bumper too it goes on like butter.

Put mine on with a 35" spare and replaced the bolts that go through the tub with Grade 8s with proper torque. It feels nice when closing. Only complaint is the welds are not as pretty as I hoped. there is a nice booger size weld right where I can see it on one of the arms.

WARN 64337 Bumper Tire Carrier Review

I received this thinking it would be a simple install but I was challenged by the directions given. They were OK to follow with a few parts hard to follow. I purchased this from two seperate sellers and the tire carrier doesn't seem to fit correct however it does serve it's purpose. You will have to drill a hole for the tire to go onto the carrier so be ready to buy a good drill bit. Actually, I have used it several times since on other things so it's all good. The latch was very challenging to get figured out because of wacky directions. It seems to fit very snug; to where I have to lift up and kick it in to get it to latch.
I am very happy with my product purchase and will be doing more mods later. Good Luck and this is a great product.

Smittybilt 76856 XRC Black Textured Rear Bumper with Hitch and Tire Carrier for Jeep Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited Review

Smittybilt 76856 XRC Black Textured Rear Bumper with Hitch and Tire Carrier for Jeep Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited
Average Reviews:

This is not as good a fit as I expected. The 2 grease zerts both broke in half while I was removing the grease gun. I had to tap a different thread and replace the zert with one I had available. The latch obstructs the License plate and I received no response from the Smittybilt Company as to a solution. We received no bolts to relocate the Dole light, or electric wire for power to it. This renders the light useless.
I have not received any response to from the Smittybilt Company on these items. Their customer service sucks.
It was cheaper than the competition, but you get what you pay for. I will not order any more products Smittybilt again.

KC HiLiTES 121 SlimLite Black 130-Watt Long Range Light System Review

KC HiLiTES 121 SlimLite Black 130-Watt Long Range Light System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These are great, the switch looks custom on the Jeep Wrangler (JK) the only thing that i would ask is for an easier reach of the locking nuts (for directing the lights), they are very close to the bracket and you need a thin wrench or socket driver for a tight fit or you will be scratch the bracket.A dent system for directing the lights would be nice on these to avoid the problem that I described.
Ligths are bright and look awosome in the jeep (windshield brackets). Tese long range/ pencil type will give you a slim and long light ray which does not make any glare from the hood like the driving type.
Another thing, since these are mostly used in jeeps they should add some special instructions for them along with the regular ones, you will figure how and where to connect everything but have to give a good think, also dont forget to buy some corrugated tubing (hardware store)to protect the cables from the ligths and into the hood, other way you will have two colorfull cables exposed.
Edit (07/19/10): I just noticed that the KC letters showed in this picture are the small ones, i received the stone guards with the larger letters (which i prefer). If your mounting these on windshield of a Jeep wrangler get the smittybilt brackets, or mopar which are the same style but more expensive. I first got the KC brackets but they will block some of your visual area and wont allow you to lift the windshield wiper for cleaning. Smittybilt and mopar brackets mount the lights down and out away from the windshield.

Hi-Lift Jack TM-700 1"-2" Adjustable Tube Mount Review

Hi-Lift Jack TM-700 1-2 Adjustable Tube Mount
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this about a month installed on an 07 FJ Cruiser with stock roof rack supporting a 60" Hi-Lift X Jack. I was a little skeptical of these 2 brackets supporting the weight of the 60" jack and keeping it suspended on rough terrain, but after several outings it hasn't even been an issue. Fit and finish is pretty good. The "U" bolt and nuts could be cleaner but in comparison to other brackets that cost 2-3X these, they are fine. Be careful when torquing, you can crush your rack tubes if you are not careful. It has done what it is supposed to do perfectly.
So why 3 stars???? Because, although these mounts perform and are some of the cheapest mounts I've seen, its still over $50 for brackets. These are brackets!! Why they cost almost half the jack itself I have no clue. There isn't half as much material in these as in my Hi-lift Xtreme!
I feel the purchase would have been more justified if it were providing additional value like added security but there is no way to lock the mount to secure the jack. I use a gun lock to secure the jack to the roof rack which is an added expense. Also, you can't secure the mounts themselves to the roof rack to avoid theft.
Another minor gripe, It would have been nice to have at least a minimal selection of hardware color finishes to choose from.
Call me weird, but it bothers me that I have to spend more money just to be able to bring along a jack I already paid for. If the jack was meant to stay home, then I would understand. I feel this should have been standard equipment with the purchase of the jack. It doesn't make sense to throw it in your cab or the bottom of your truck bed for convenience sake, even if you have the space and I've never seen it done. I've always seen it mounted because it needs to be. What was I thinking..... buying a recovery jack to actually BRING with me.

This is a must have for your wrangler, very simple too install, all you need to do is remove a few screws on the sides of your windshield, put the bar in place and the put the screws back in. This has to be my favorite accessory for my jeep and i guarantee it'll be your favorite also, i also bought 4 nice $40(pack of 2) trail lights to mount on top which is better than mounting some PIAA OR KC's because if you were to ever roll over those nice expensive lights would get crushed. :D

Saris B.A.T. 2-Bike Spare Tire Rack Review

Saris B.A.T. 2-Bike Spare Tire Rack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Purchasing a bike rack for a 2007 Toyota Rav4 is a big pain in the a**.
The rear door for the 2007 (and I believe 2006, both of which saw a significant redesign to previous models) swings to the side rather than up. The spare tire is attached to the rear door, and there's a metal bracket that the tire bolts onto.
I originally purchased the Yakima Spare Joe and it didn't really fit on the Rav4 due to the bracket in the back blocking the strap that is supposed to run vertically behind the tire.
I returned that one and purchased this one instead. It's a pretty good price but requires that you also purchase one of two special metal pieces that goes behind the tire and eventually gives you something to bolt the BAT to. See: Saris BAT Spare Tire Rack Mounting Plate B - 996B. For a simple hunk of metal and a bolt, $50 is pretty ridiculously expensive, making the entire product much more expensive than it initially appears.
Once you get everything you have to attach it to your car. The plate the company recommends doesn't fit the Rav4 at all, as the spare tire mount (the Toyota bracket) has a metal lip that is in the way of the BAT bracket.
Your only options at this point are to return everything or bust out your handy metal grinder and grind off the entire metal lip on the spare tire mount. Which is what we did and at that point I was able to attach everything and it worked fine after that.
An additional annoyance is that to actually get to your spare tire in case of a flat, you need to remove the BAT, which is to be expected, but for some reason they didn't bother to make the final mounting bolt a size larger than can be removed by standard lug wrenches, so you have to carry an additional wrench around to removed the bolt.
It would have been handy if the customer rep that I spoke to on the phone from Saris had warned me ahead of time that this didn't fit my Rav4.
Anyway, now that everything is on it does seem to work fine.

Surco TF100 Spare Tire Carrier Review

Surco TF100 Spare Tire Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The tire carrier arrived in good time in good conditon. I installed it finding one problem. The carrier has one arm which bolts onto the door by drilling two holes in the lipof the door. The other side consists of two arms which have yolks that slip over the door hinges and a bolt holds themin place The lower nut of the tab slipping over the lowere hing had a problem. The bolt was damaged or misaligned. I could not get the bolt to screw into the nut. Eventually, I used a grinder to emove the nut and used a standard nut and lock washer to intall the unit.
Also, the two bolts included to bolt the tire to the carrier were to short. I had to purchase two longer bolts to mount the tire.
Otherwise, the unit worked. I would reccomend making the bolts for mounting the tire an inch longer.

Curt Manufacturing 13251 Class III Receiver Review

Curt Manufacturing 13251 Class III Receiver

I installed this hitch on my 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Everything about it is quality. This is an exact copy of the Jeep OEM receiver but it drops down a few inches to clear the plastic bumper facia. No cutting the bumper, no plastic bezel dress piece, and over $100+ cheaper. Honestly, I think it looks better than the factory cut-out tow package. You don't see the ugly spare tire. You're only talking about two inches lower, if that. The instructions were straightforward and it installed without a 'hitch'....ha ha. I put my hitch mounted motorcycle hauler on the receiver and took my dirt bike out to the desert without a problem. Just make sure you torque each bolt down to the 75 ft/lbs per the instructions.

Curt Manufacturing 13160 Class III Receiver Review

Curt Manufacturing 13160 Class III Receiver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this receiver for my 1999 Jeep Cherokee after much research of all receivers for my model vehicle. Curt makes two different models for my application. I chose the round tube design because I thought it would have a more compact fit on the Jeep and I liked the appearance. Good choice, in hindsight. The receiver has a glossy finish which seems very durable. It did not scratch during install or during the several times it's been used since purchase. Delivery time was as stated.
Installation was as described in the thorough instructions and included all necessary hardware. I also viewed a YouTube video of a similar receiver installation on my vehicle which helped. Of course, since my Jeep is over ten years old, and had some rusted hardware, I had to spend some time preparing for install. Lots of penetrating oil and cleaning of threaded weld nuts on one side of the frame. Take your time and don't break any bolts or you'll have major problems. Not counting this preparation time, It was installed easily by myself in less than an hour.
I would recommend purchasing the matching wire harness connector which plugs right in to the existing vehicle harness behind the left rear interior panel. This took about a half hour.

Perrycraft Roof Rack for 2001 - 2006 Ford Escape Review

Perrycraft Roof Rack for 2001 - 2006 Ford Escape
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this roof rack set for a 2006 Ford Escape. I just want to point out that this is a generic roof rack and although it will fit a 2006 Ford Escape, it is not made for a Ford Escape or any particular type of vehicle for that matter. In addition, the description and the documentation included state that it is an easy installation. I don't not consider drilling holes in the top of my vehicle easy. These do not fit on the Ford OEM pre-installed rails on the Escape. I will say the product seemed to be sturdy enough to warrant a 3 star which I consider average, but I would not recommend it unless you are comfortable drilling holes in the roof of your vehicle.

Hi-Lift Jack LR-200 Loc-Rac Jack Mounting System Review

Hi-Lift Jack LR-200 Loc-Rac Jack Mounting System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Go to the Hi-Lift web site ([...]) and look up the LR-200 LocRac Jack Mounting System. You'll see what you are really getting. I figured this out before I ordered and what I received is what I expected. Hopefully Amazon corrected the image by now - I reported it on 5/1/2010. As for the Loc-Rac, there are instructions on the back of the packaging, though they are very generic. It didn't mount right up to my 2009 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab 4x4. I had to add a 1.5" spacer between the hinged part of the lock and the truck bed. The problem is that the bed of the truck is recessed halfway down the length of the bed where the hinged piece of the latch is supposed to mount. Adding a spacer wasn't hard, but I had to buy some 1.5" slotted square tubing to make it work. Even though I only needed a 4" piece of tubing, I had to spend $20 at a local home improvement store for a 48" piece. I also had to purchase a few 5/16" bolts and nuts to mount the square tubing, but that cost only $2.00. Lastly, the lock they send with the package looks like a lock you would find on cheap luggage. Deciding not to protect a $70+ jack with a 70 cent lock, I went to a local auto parts store and purchased a coupler lock (used for trailers) for $15.00, meaning my install cost was $37+tax, excluding the cost of the Loc-Rac. In case you are curious, a 60" Hi-Lift will mount inside the bed of a 2009 Silverado Crew Cab short bed truck.
