Curt Manufacturing 13044 Class III Receiver Review

You could imagine my surprise when I ordered this on a Thursday evening and it arrived at my door on Saturday morning, all with free shipping! The install went very smoothly and I was shocked at the quality and fitment. For some reason my Jeep didn't have a shield around the gas tank, so the weld nuts in the frame were full of rust. I ran an M12 x 1.75 tap through them to make life much easier.
Please note: You will have to have a friend pry on the exhaust pipe if you want to use all 6 bolts and the first picture here on Amazon is the mount you will be receiving.
Enjoy,
Justin L.

Curt Manufacturing 13138 Class III Receiver Review

The receiver is made with heavy construction and nicely finished, and included all the hardware needed. The instructions show a simple enough install where you just remove two existing bolts from the frame and fit the receiver, then drill two new holes using it as a template, something that should take 20 minutes or less with the right tools.
Unfortunately for me, even though my truck was listed for compatibility, the factory tow hook was in the way and I couldn't install the receiver without removing it. The tow hook is secured high up on one of the frame rails with three difficult to reach bolts, and also attached to a strut bolted to the bumper assembly with the bolt tack welded in place. Only once it was removed could I follow the original instructions and everything was fine, just took much longer due to the hook.

Wow! Excelent service, Excelent product. Took about 1/2 hour to install would have been faster but the gas tank shield was a bit in the way, nothing a little hammer couldn't fix, other than that the hitch bolts right up to the frame 10 mins. Looks good too!Mahalo Curt & Amazon,
Ugli

Installed by myself in about an hour with no drilling or modifications to the car. I strapped it to a floor jack to position it underneath the car.

I installed this hitch on my 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Everything about it is quality. This is an exact copy of the Jeep OEM receiver but it drops down a few inches to clear the plastic bumper facia. No cutting the bumper, no plastic bezel dress piece, and over $100+ cheaper. Honestly, I think it looks better than the factory cut-out tow package. You don't see the ugly spare tire. You're only talking about two inches lower, if that. The instructions were straightforward and it installed without a 'hitch'....ha ha. I put my hitch mounted motorcycle hauler on the receiver and took my dirt bike out to the desert without a problem. Just make sure you torque each bolt down to the 75 ft/lbs per the instructions.

Bought this hitch for my 02 PT cruiser. It fit well. You have to drop the muffler to put it on.
I just ordered another one for my 07 PT.

Worked great! Just tested it on a week long camping trip. I'm using for extra storage with a extended rack off the back of my campers bumper. This is a heavy duty hitch mount. Very easy to install and can mount up or down. It took less than ten minutes to mount where I wanted it. I installed down so items are under my tail lights. This is a very well constructed product with very tight welds and nice paint job. Heavy duty installation bolts only need one wrench to install as they are counter sunk so they don't stick out for close in installs.
