Yakima Beddy Joe Review

(More customer reviews)I got this item at a local REI. It is perfect. It is for 2 bikes and it holds them easily. It does take some assembly but that should take only a few minutes. It really should come preassemlbed as it would still fit in the same box and save you some trouble. But not a big deal. It is super light yet really clamps down on the bikes. Easy to install in the bad of the truck. I would suggest you get in the back and put your knee across the bar when tightning it down. It makes a huge differance in the hoding power. I drove down a pretty bumpy trail to get to where we wanted to bike, and there was zero movement. The problem is the you can't really lock the bike up. After biking we went to a playground and I was a little uncomfortable leaving the bikes in the bed of the truck with no locks. I parked where I could see the truck..... You do have to take the front wheels off the bikes to clamp them in so that is protection from people on foot. But it is somthing to consider.

(More customer reviews)I'm gonna make this short - it's a little difficult to mount securely to some rails, particularly if you have a bed liner. Second, they're a little on the expensive side. My recommendation - buy some cheap traps, and mount them to a board. Use a cable lock to secure your bikes. And, it will keep your bikes down out of the road bugs.

Yakima BedHead Truck Rack Locking Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased two of these BedHead truck bike racks (one locking Yakima BedHead Truck Rack Locking and one non-locking Yakima BedHead Bike Rack) and they work great! I went with these because I wanted something that would allow me to leave my tonneau cover on as well. These have a very small footprint so I can install them or take them off as needed and since they mount to the side of my truck bed I was able to install two of them towards the rear of my truckbed and have the front of my truck bed still covered by my tonneau cover. This allows us to pack luggage and camping supplies under the tonneau out of the elements yet have the bikes in the back as well. It seems to secure them down well as long as make sure the skewer is tight. I first purchased the Bedhead without the locking skewer; 1) Because it was cheaper. 2) Because I did not think I would have our bikes in the truck unattended. If for some reason I thought I needed to leave them I would lock them together with a bike cable to the truck bed itself. Well after seeing how they install with a hex bolt and an allen wrench I never thought about the BedHead rack itself and someone ganking it while I am out riding. You can only get to the bolt that installs/removes it by taking the skewer completely out. That said I ordered my second BedHead with the locking skewer and have a piece of mind that when out riding my BedHead rack "should" be there when I get back. I now have to pay an extra ~$30 to get a locking skewer for my other BeadHead Yakima Universal Locking Skewer. Lesson learned, spend the little extra and get the locking Yakima BedHead Truck Rack.
One more nice plus about these is they are very small and since I live in the Mid-West we get snow half the year (which equals no biking) and storing a large trunk-mount or receiver-mount bike rack takes up space in the attic or garage. You will have no problem storing these little guys in a drawer.

I have been able to transport up to two bicycles (A Giant and a Raleigh)with no problems. Of course, I further secure them with tie downs (peace of mind). As far as the delivery was concerned, The Bike Rack delivered as promised and on a timely manner. Shopping through Amazon is the only way buy things these days for me.

(More customer reviews)We have a Honda CRV and needed a way to transport bikes. Since the spare tire is mounted on the back of the vehicle it is harder to find a bike rack for it. We don't have a hitch, so it would be very costly to get one installed and then pay for a rack. We bought two sets of the fork mounts and installed them on a 2X6 piece of scrap wood (51 cents at Home Depot) which fits perfectly inside the back of the CRV. Problem solved for not much fuss or money!

Delta Stableloader 2-Bike Truck Bed Mount Rack Review

(More customer reviews)If you're considering purchasing this item, keep looking. While it may work for some people the unit itself is cheap and looks terrible. The hardware (nuts and bolts) are totally the wrong size and type so much so that while attempting to attach the skewer to the rack, the bolts seized up halfway up the bolt. I had to use bolt cutters to cut the bolts to allow me to release the rack from my pickup. Additionally, the instructions are pretty worthless because they give you images of how it should look not how to assemble the unit.
I've contacted Delta to send me the correct hardware because I don't believe I should have to go by my own hardware for a rack I just purchased.
Spend a little more money for a nicer, better made product. This one is junk.

(More customer reviews)This bike rack is a great buy for the money. It fits into full size as well as smaller trucks. Mine is a Tacoma and it fits perfectly. I do have to say that the directions for assembly are terrible but looking at the picture on the box and a little trial and error are all you really need. Be sure none of the pieces are still stuck together from the finish coating as they won't slide to adjust if you don't and this will make assembly very difficult.
I recommend using something to help hold the bikes in place during use as the simple device that holds the top of the tire is not enough to hold adult size bikes in place while driving. Mine are a Fuji MTB and a Redline cyclocross and both of them shift in the rack if I don't use straps to hold them. Not a big deal really. I do like that each tire holder is adjustable up and down for different size bikes. My kids bikes fit really well and tend to stay put for the most part unless I corner hard while driving.
The rack is held in place by tension to the side of the truck bed so you need to really get it placed well and centered before you adjust the fit. I have had no trouble with needing to adjust mine once it was set. There is also a heavy cable provided so that you can secure the rack to the truck as well as the bikes to the rack. I bought extra cables so that everything can be locked up together with the cables. It would be easy for someone to take the entire rack from the truck bed if it is not secured with one of these cables. The rack does not attach to the truck directly in any way. I liked that about this rack.
I gave it 4 stars because with just a couple of straps I can load all of my bikes and go to the trails and not need to re-attach tires or anything like that before I head out for a ride. It makes it easy to carry kids bikes which usually don't have quick disconnect front tires that many other truck bed rack require. The cost is very reasonable for what you get. It is all metal and is of decent quality. I recommend this if you want a truck bed rack that you can quickly load and unload a variety of bikes into without needing to remove the front tire.
